Winter/Spring Tax Internship 2025

Position Summary:

ORBA is seeking tax season interns who would be involved primarily with personal and business income tax return preparation, but may also be exposed to additional areas of tax. Training includes some classroom-type instruction, but is predominantly on-the-job with close supervision and constant feedback. The individual will be working closely with partners and staff, and will have direct contact with clients of various industries.

Major duties and responsibilities include:

• Gathering, organizing and analyzing data and preparing income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, non-profit organizations and retirement plans; and
• Assisting in special projects, such as tax projections or consulting engagements.

Summer Internship 2025

ORBA is seeking summer interns who would be involved with all aspects of our firm, including audits and reviews of financial statements, income tax preparation and accounting services. Training includes classroom-type instruction and on-the-job training with close supervision and constant feedback. The individual will work closely with partners and staff and will have direct contact with clients from various industries.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Perform audit, review, and compliance testing procedures in accordance with firm and professional standards and as directed by engagement leaders;
• Communicate with engagement leaders regarding open items, testing problems, or other important matters in a timely manner;
• Assist with preparation of (or review client-prepared) financial statements and footnotes, management reports, and other engagement outputs; and
• Develop technical competency with GAAP, GAAS and SSARS, especially related to assigned service line.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current graduate student or undergraduate student;
• Course work in Accounting and a general business background (course work in Taxes is preferred, but not required);
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
• Detail-oriented mindset;

Entry Level Tax Associate

Position Summary:

ORBA is seeking full-time, entry level staff accountants who would be involved with tax planning, tax return preparation and business consulting. Training is predominantly on-the-job with close supervision, constant feedback and some classroom-type instruction. The individual will be working closely with all partners and staff, and will have direct contact with clients of various industries.

Major duties and responsibilities include:

• Preparing tax returns of all types (individual, business, trusts);
• Responding to IRS and state tax notifications 
• Performing tax research; and 
• Preparing quarterly estimates 

Qualifications:

Candidates should be aspiring CPAs with a degree in Accounting and a general business background. Completion of Master of Science in Taxation (MST) is strongly encouraged. Candidates should have good oral and written communication skills, be detail-oriented, and have good analytical ability and judgment. Entry Level Audit Associate

Position Summary:

ORBA is seeking full-time, entry level staff accountants who would be involved with audit and accounting services, as well as tax planning, tax return preparation and business consulting. Training is predominantly on-the-job with close supervision, constant feedback and some classroom-type instruction. The individual will be working closely with all partners and staff, and will have direct contact with clients of various industries.

Major duties and responsibilities include:

• Perform audit procedures and compliance testing;
• Prepare workpapers and reconciliations on review and compilation engagements;
• Prepare accounting records, gathering, organize and analyze data and preparing income tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, estates, not-for-profit organizations and retirement plans;
• Prepare payroll tax and sales tax returns
• Assist in special consulting projects, such as valuations, litigation support, computer systems, forecasts and projections, estate and financial planning, and general business consulting

Qualifications:

• Candidates who are aspiring CPA’s with a degree in accounting/general business background
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Detail oriented and great analytical skills
