CHICAGO — ORBA, one of Chicago’s largest public accounting firms, is pleased to announce the appointment of Markus Richter as Chief Operating Officer. He brings more than ten years of experience helping professional service firms execute growth and strategic plans, develop and manage performance models, business operations and human capital needs.
“We are pleased to welcome Markus to the ORBA family,” said Mark Thomson, Managing Director of ORBA. “As we continue to grow and expand our services, it is imperative to have someone that is not only skilled in building and leading teams, but also experienced in designing and executing business operations and systems. Markus also has a background working with both CPA and investment advisory firms, so this will help us grow both of our practices.”
Prior to joining ORBA, Markus held similar positions at a financial planning firm and a CPA firm providing compliance, cybersecurity, cyber risk and privacy services.
“Having provided services to firms similar to us, we knew Markus would be the ideal candidate to facilitate ORBA’s growth, stability and innovation,” Thomson concluded.

Markus earned a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from the University of South Florida and a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Tampa.
